Family Support

The intent of this component of the Program is to involve the spouse or other relevant family members in the treatment of the client. The aim of this involvement is to improve marital or family communication and satisfaction, to provide an insight into the nature of the clients problem and the treatment initiatives recommended to address these problems, to provide spousal or family support for the client in treatment, and to facilitate adjustments in marital or family dynamics to support the client in recovery.

Interventions include individual sessions with partners, family members or significant others, as well as joint sessions including these family members and the client, and family groups where family members of different clients meet to discuss issues that have arisen while their family member was actively drinking or using, and the issues confronting them now that their loved one is in recovery.

Family SupportĀ groups are held on Mondays at 7.30pm to 9.30pm. For more information please call (02) 9810 3117.
