Foundation House has been in operation for over 20 years and is now an experienced and long-established rehabilitation centre. Officially opened in June 2000 by the then NSW Premier, the Honourable Bob Carr, Foundation House has expanded its beds, services and backing to become the comprehensive, holistic service provider that we are today.
Foundation House was first established as a trade union initiative supported by the construction industry. As demand, services and word of mouth grew, Foundation House moved to larger premises in 2009, around the same time we started working with clients with gambling addictions. Services continued to be added to meet demand and as more industry unions saw our outcomes. Once an all-male facility, we opened our doors to women in 2010.
Foundation House now flourishes as a 13-bed facility with the capacity to grow to 19 beds, and we are now expanding into further services for the Health Services Union, adding to our ability to holistically take care of our clients.
Today, Foundation House is located in a tranquil waterfront setting within the grounds of Callan Park in Sydney’s inner west and the unit is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Originally providing drug and alcohol services, Foundation House has expanded both our operations and levels of service to successfully deliver residential and outpatient alcohol, drug and gambling rehabilitation services. We are also offering support to our clients’ families as well as members of the general public.
We are driven by client centered best practice and innovation.
We are proud that, today, Foundation House is in a position to deliver tailored, holistic services including outpatient counselling, aftercare and relapse prevention groups, and create a foundation for our clients to take the steps needed in their lives to achieve their goals.
